Bernice came from a hoarding situation where she lived amongst over 50 animals! Several weeks after coming to our rescue, she scored herself a home where she no longer had to share the attention. A year later, Bernice is still living like a princess. Her dad says he needed her just like she needed him!

Forest was dumped at a middle school in Lancaster, SC. Thankfully, a concerned citizen worked for days until she was able to catch him and another stray. Within a week, they both found awesome homes! This is Forest, with his new brother, living on his 18-acre property in Waxhaw, NC. It just goes to show that second hand pets really do make first class pets! While Forest had to endure abandonment, he is now living with a loving family where he'll never be homeless again! |
Kado has quite the story! He was seized by animal control along with thirteen other dogs after his owners were evicted from their home. Eight of the dogs came to Halfway There Rescue to find their forever homes. Kado was severely malnourished, weighing a measly 52 pounds, and had the worst case of hook worms the vet had ever seen. A wonderful couple from Ohio saw his picture and fell in love. He was transported up north where he now lives with his new Jack Russell brother! He has put on 20 pounds and is living the dream. His family says they couldn't have gotten a more perfect dog. Lucky family and lucky Kado! |
A friend of Halfway There Rescue found a stray black lab pup wandering down a rural road on the fourth of July. He was dehydrated and very hungry. She named him "Patriot" in honor of the holiday. Halfway There matched this handsome boy with his new owner, Sammie. He is now called Bentley and lives in Ohio for most of the year, but vacations on the beautiful beaches of Hilton Head, SC. From roaming the streets to sleeping in the bed, as you can tell by the picture, Bentley has adjusted well! |
Just six months ago, Trudy (left) sat in a kennel at animal control, scared for her life. Thankfully Melissa fell in love with her picture and immediately agreed to foster..which quickly turned in to an adoption. Today, Trudy is living the high life with her sister Sophie. Lucky does not describe this girl well enough. I mean, how many other dogs get to eat cake and attend doggie birthday parties? |
Jack was found lost and hungry in the Charlotte White Water center when a friend of Abbey's stumbled across him. Although he was starving and had been out in the woods for who knows how long, Jack still had a great spirit about him. Abbey, with the help of many other fosters, took him in and cared for him until he got adopted. Finally, after a couple months, Jack found the love of his life, his mommy Angela. Angela decided to foster Jack while Abbey was out of town and could not help but fall in love with him. Since then they have been inseparable (unless he is taking up the whole couch!).

Joey was adopted from Halfway There in March of this year. He spent 8 months in an Alabama animal shelter after his previous owner passed away. In the stressful shelter environment, he became withdrawn and depressed, so he was brought to Halfway There on a transport. Once in Charlotte, he almost immediately found his "furever" home with a wonderful family who absolutely adores him. Here he is on vacation with his new family. We couldn't be happier for this lucky puppy! |
Riley Jr. (pictured on the right) was saved by Halfway There Rescue in the beginning of 2012. He lived in several foster homes, until a friend of Sarah and Abbey's decided she wanted to adopt him. Abbey and Riley Jr. drove 4.5 hours to meet at a halfway point with his now mother, Lauren, who fell in love with him immediately! He is now living with Lauren, her boyfriend Rob, and Scout (pictured on the left). As you can see, they are best friends and Riley Jr. could not be happier! |
Blitzen (now called Winston) was pulled from a local shelter. He was hours away from being euthanized when Halfway There stepped in to save him in the nick of time. He was adopted by Michelle, who loves him more and more every day. So glad Winston has a "happy tail" to share, in fact his tail wags with joy daily in his new home! |
