Though it took months to devise a way to trap this handsome boy, he has learned that being a pet versus a dog-on-the run is a pretty sweet deal! Meet Axel! This handsome boy is a little over a year old, heartworm negative, up to date on all preventative care, and has been neutered. He is the most friendly “little” big dog you will ever meet. So far, he has shown himself to be super excited about making friends with small and big dogs and children. However, he is still learning how to “politely” play. He has no idea how big he is! Wewould advise caution with small children or animals and with older, more fragile dogs of any size. He is coming along with learning not to play so rough though! Axel is very food motivated but has shown no signs of aggression over food, territory, his “person”, etc. He knows how to sit and down. He is learning how to heal and stay. Axel warms very quickly to women, pets, and children, but he takes a little more time to warm to men- food helps! He is great in a crate and rarely whines and never barks. This handsome love bug is seeking someone outgoing or with larger, younger dogs that he can spend time with. Hiking, fetching, drinking water from a hose, carrying his security blanket around- these are all things he loves in live (in addition to treats of course!).
Meet Taboo, a pint-sized, 10-month-old lab mix who is spunky and sweet! Taboo or "Boo" is a quick learner and has mastered his name and how to potty outside. Boo is also crate trained and typically stays kenneled during an 8-10 hour work day, although he happily attends doggy daycare a few days a week as well. Boo loves nothing more than to be surrounded by his 4-legged friends, but he is also content to snuggle on the couch or in the bed with humans. Boo is fostered with kids aged 6 to 10, and we are confident he'd be a great fit for a home with or without kids. Weighing just 26 pounds, Boo is the perfect size to be your travel companion. Will you consider making Boo your newest adventure buddy?
Meet Lainey Wilson (yes she’s named after the country music star!). Lainey is a female beagle, around 6 yrs old and 20 lbs. She’s not just a talented singer, but she's also a quick learner- in her short time in rescue she’s learning commands well, is potty trained and crate trained. Imagine the fun you'll have teaching her to sing along to your favorite songs or even creating a unique duet together! She has adapted well to life indoors, and enjoys going on leisurely walks, sniffing out new scents, playing with toys & bones, and cuddling up with her favorite humans. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion, look no further than Lainey. With her playful personality and loving nature, she is sure to bring endless joy and laughter to your home. Apply for Lainey today and see for yourself why beagles make the best furry friends!
Meet Charlize, an adorable mixed breed (maybe a lab mix?) who is just 10-weeks-old. Charlize was found in the parking lot of a local Walmart so we don't believe she had the best start to life, but she is now healthy and happy living in her foster home. Charlize is well socialized with people and other animals. She is still a young puppy who has lots to learn, such as pottying outside and chewing only on appropriate toys/bones (and not fingers!). She is looking for a patient home with time to continue her training!
Little Quito, through no fault of his own, has lost his family again. He is a shy little pup, but comes around quickly and is the most loving attentive boy. Quito is a 6-year-old chihuahua mix. He is crate trained, potty trained with regular outings, and great on a leash. He loves the outdoors and all the sniffies and sounds. He is super food motivated and eager to please; which makes training a dream. He loves dinner time and will put himself to bed before Wheel of Fortune. He does well with other small dogs, and is good with new people with a slow and controlled introduction. Because he is shy, a household without large dogs or small children is best. Quito deserves a loving person or family that will give him his REAL forever home. Is this you?
This little 6/7 year old chihuahua lady named Cayenne gives off a real “Can we not, and say we did?” vibe. She has no interest in loud dinner parties with friends, or galavanting around town. She isn’t the type for big adventure backpacking trips or crowded breweries & wine gardens. She’s more of the sweatpants around the house, binge watch bravo, light a good smelling candle, brew your coffee at home kinda gal. She returned to our rescue after her owner was experiencing health issues that left him unable to care for her. Since returning, she has taken time adjusting and gaining confidence in a new environment, without the family she’d known for the last year and a half. In a transition to a new home we would expect her to be scared and unsure of herself at first, but with time, patience, and plenty of space to figure it out in her own time, we fully expect her to gain confidence and grow to love and be loved in a new family.
Meet Figgy! About 12 weeks old (DOB roughly 8/15/23), this pretty girl is learning to be comfortable with people but is already very dog friendly and immediately developed a major crush on her foster brother, who she will follow anywhere.
Likely a shepherd mix, Figgy is slight but tall and enjoys playing with her littermate and being a typical puppy. She is crate trained and working on potty training; she will do best in a home with the patience and kindness to help her continue to adjust to living indoors and being loved and cared for by humans. Figgy is such a sweet girl: will you be the one to help her blossom into the strong and confident dog she is meant to be?

Meet Butternut, the adorable 6-month-old hound mix who was discovered as a stray, but is now looking for her forever home. This sweet and spirited pup is a true survivor with a heart full of love to give (leaning on you for all the pets is her favorite!).
Butternut's endearing eyes and floppy ears are sure to capture your heart at first glance. Despite her early hardships, she's a resilient and joyful puppy who is eager to explore the world and share her zest for life with a loving family. Butternut is in the prime of her puppyhood, and she's quickly learning the ropes of obedience, socializing, and house training. She loves playing with her foster dog siblings, playing with toys, and playing with balls in the yard.
With a hound mix background, Butternut has an innate curiosity and a nose for adventure. She'd make an excellent companion for those who enjoy outdoor activities, whether it's hiking, jogging, or simply long walks in the park. Her playful nature will keep you entertained, and her warm cuddles will melt away your stresses.

Get ready to fall in love with Juniper, a radiant 1.5-year-old bully breed beauty with a heart as big as her personality. Weighing in at over 55lbs, this lovable gal often forgets her size—especially when snuggles are involved!
Who Is Juniper?Juniper is the ultimate work-from-home companion. Her favorite thing in the world? Being by your side. Whether you're typing away at your desk or taking a coffee break, she'll be right there, wagging her tail and soaking up all the attention she can get.
Tricks and Training She's not just a pretty face; Juniper is also spayed and knows basic commands like "sit" and "lay down." She's crate-trained but might require some treat-based persuasion to head into her crate if she senses you're leaving the house.
Energy Level and Social Skills Juniper is a bundle of puppy-like energy, eager to explore and run around. She's a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs, making her a star pupil at doggy daycare. She'd thrive in a home with a spacious backyard where she can let loose and be her playful self or a home dedicated to taking her on walks or runs.
Ideal Home While Juniper has been around younger children, she's now looking for a home with teens or adults who can manage her strength and enthusiasm on walks. She would be a great companion to another dog.
Special Dietary Needs Be mindful: Juniper has a chicken allergy and does best on a lamb or salmon-based diet. She also has a mild, manageable rash that appears occasionally, which could be due to seasonal allergies.
Ready to Adopt? If Juniper sounds like the perfect fit for your family, don't hesitate to meet her. Trust us; she's eager to meet you too. To start the adoption process, please follow the adoption process at Halfway There Rescue.

Meet sweet Mama Sun! She is 1-2 years old and about 35 pounds. Sun was found living outside along with her puppies. She is currently recovering from heartworm treatment and doing very well. Sun is moderate to low energy, and crate and potty trained. She loves to work for treats. Sun loves other dogs but isn’t sure about cats. Sun is a huge cuddle bug and could spend the day cuddling on the couch with you. She demonstrates her love and appreciation with lots of kisses. She sleeps in her crate during the day while her fosters are at work. Sun walks very nicely on a leash but is most comfortable walking with her easy walk harness on
Zelda is an 8-month old shepherd mix who weighs 58 lbs. She came to our rescue when she contracted parvo, and her owners could not afford her care. She is wonderful with kids 5-6 years and older. She is a great protector and checks on her human foster sibling during thunderstorms. She has such a big heart. Zelda is a snuggler and will curl up with you whenever you are. She loves roaming in the backyard rolling in the grass and playing with her canine foster brother. She watches everything her foster brother and sister do. She definitely needs a big brother or sister, she is a bit timid and looks to them for direction and security. She is extremely smart and what a sense of smell this girls has! She is potty trained and we are working on bell training. She is okay walking on a leash in the yard but very nervous walking outside the property and needs her foster brother to make her feel safe. Zelda will have the best life with a fenced in yard (not required, but preferred) and a sibling her size. It would be great if her new family worked from home, or has flexibility. She is at a stage where she’s needs company as she builds her courage and security. Zelda truly is a warrior and has overcome so much at such a young age. This girl deserves the best life full of love!
Meet the sweet and shy, 2 year old (35 lbs) April May! One of many rescued from a cruelty case, this Aussie mix girl came to us in rough shape but with a heart of gold. While she needed a fair bit of time to decompress, she took her antibiotics like a champ and trusted us enough to tolerate the required medicated baths. Once she got used to a comfy bed and having a full belly and a welcoming home, she began to trust and explore little by little. She’d never been in a house before, and every sound or sudden movement could make her jump. She had to learn how to go in and out of doors, use a potty pad, and do her business outside. April being so food-motivated was a great plus though, and it allowed us to build trust with her through hand-feeding. Eventually we were able to sneak in occasional pets. And now, she will accept a good belly scratch at bedtime. April has had a longer road to healing than many rescue dogs, but she has been so sweet and grateful along the way and shows it by always greeting you with a happy dance when you come home!
April may never be the dog you can travel everywhere with or take to the dog park. But she is fine with any guests you may have in your home! She may never want to play and rough house with young children, puppies, or high-energy dogs. But she will share her snuggle spot with a fellow lazy dog who just wants a nap! She may not love the idea of going potty outside in a rainstorm (and honestly, who would?). But she’s a potty pro and will always use a pad if you aren’t home! She may not be terribly playful. But that just means you don’t have to worry about spending loads on dog toys or your favorite shoes getting chewed.
While April is crate-trained and potty-trained, she would require more practice with leash skills. April would do best in a home with low-energy or submissive dogs or with her being the only dog. April doesn’t mind children as long as they give her space. She tends to keep a distance from our toddler (likely due to the loud sounds and unpredictability of toddlers). And while she hasn’t been taken out for much socialization due to her nervousness outside the home, she gets along great with our two dogs and all family and friends that come by. She’s also a quiet girl, only barking once or twice when a car pulls up. She doesn’t whine or beg either, but if you have something delicious she might sit by your side and boop you on the leg with her nose. This is April code for “please share.”
It will be essential that April’s new family give her the time and space to build trust with them. We are confident that with patience, consistency, and love, this girl will quickly become a beloved member of the family. All she needs from you is TLC! If you are looking for sweet companion who will welcome you home and rest by your feet, come meet April. She has been waiting a long time to find her forever home, and we know that whoever is lucky enough to adopt her will be rewarded with years of love and companionship!

Bianca (or BB for short) is the most affectionate girl you will ever meet and she is looking for a forever family to give her endless hugs and belly rubs! BB is approximately 2 years old and around 40 pounds. She is completely house-trained and walks well on a leash. She is very clever and can pick up any command almost immediately. She likes everyone she meets, including kids, and is dog friendly. She adores being doted on and loves to cuddle and receive hugs. This girl is something special, could she be a perfect fit for your family?
Meet Lolly, a precious 12-year-old-beagle with a heart of gold. When she's is not napping in her favorite sunspot, she's begging for a bite of whatever you're eating. Lolly was diagnosed with spondylosis, which is a condition that effects the vertebral bones of the spin. It is hard for her to navigate steps, and she sometimes has issues with her footing on wood floors. Her pain is currently being managed by pain medication/NSAID --which will more than likely need to be taken for the remainder of her life. Lolly does amazing in her foster home that has 6 dogs, which are both big and small. She absolutely adores children of all ages. Lolly does very well with going potty outside, but she will sometimes have an accident in the house. We tell her that's okay, as accidents happen.
If you're looking for a loyal companion who will cherish every moment with you, Lolly is your girl.
"Love never grows old. Adopt a senior dog."

Meet Heart! She is a spunky 2 year old pittie mix. Although she’s got big perky ears, Heart is deaf and would do best with a family that either has experience or is willing to put in the extra work to train and communicate with her through hand signals. Just because she can’t hear, doesn’t mean she can’t learn tricks! Heart knows how to sit, lay down, and shake. With the right owner, she could easily learn more!
Heart is very high energy and loves to climb, jump, and zoom across the yard. Because she can’t hear, Heart often struggles picking up cues from other dogs that they don’t want to play which can lead to negative reactions from other dogs. Some dogs just can’t handle all of her energy. Heart is crate trained, house trained, and with some correction, is able to loose leash walk. She does best eating and drinking water separately from other dogs and does not like sharing toys or her bed. She is food motivated and can solve any pet puzzle you give her.
Heart is hyper-vigilant and has the need to see everything around her to feel safe and secure. She needs time to adjust to her surroundings and slow introductions with any pet siblings is best, but once she is acclimated, watch out! She will love you till the end of time if you just meet her halfway. Heart would do best with an active family that love the outdoors and are not afraid to put in some extra work for her training

Haley is a loveable, energetic 8-month-old pup who loves snuggling on the couch or playing with other dogs. She is very loyal and protective in her foster home and seems to attach herself more toward the ladies of the home. She is potty trained and usually sleeps with her foster mom at night, but she is crated when mom leaves the house. Haley is very much still a puppy and loves playing and chewing on her toys and running around in the back yard. This sweet, timid soul really aims to please and tries very hard to be a good pup. She attends doggy daycare to continue her socialization and to work out her energy. She gets along with absolutely all dogs! Haley will be a perfect companion with anyone willing to dedicate the time and patience to adjust to her new home.
Sandy haired with a sparkly personality, Ruby is an older adult with bursts of puppy energy. She likes to play with toys and LOVES to chase balls. Most of all, she loves snuggles! She tags along with her favorite people wherever they go. She’s great on a leash, crate trained, a perfectly polite car rider. She’s delightfully soft and cuddly. We’re talking seriously soft.
Ruby was surrendered to Halfway There Rescue by owners who made her live outdoors while profiting off breeding her with another small dog with whom she shared the confined space of a chain-link pen. Limited human socialization left her with anxiety and fear. However, since joining the Halfway There Rescue family, Ruby has opened up to people in an impressive way. She is full of JOY and it can be seen in her little teddy bear face.
This joyful ten-pound teddy bear still needs a calm house without small kids and their unpredictable quickness. She can be anxious around other dogs; she might be best as a solo doggo. She has been happily living with a similarly sized dog for a year. They seem to have a mutual agreement to share space while pretending the other does not exist. She has also co-habitated with a much larger dog who gave her the space she needed to feel comfortable.
